DARRELL BANKS Open The Door To Your Heart (Revilot)
This was one of those records that used to get played at the coolest clubs way back. Tracks like this, along with The Impressions, Gene Chandler, Alvin Cash and Motown tunes were what I would listen up for. I made my mind up donkeys years ago that this slice of solid soul was the best ever piece of soul music, challenged only by the 4 Tops 'Ask The Lonely'. There is nothing you could improve about this beauty, it is soul perfection.

J.J. BARNES Please Let Me In (Ric-Tic)
When I first read about this in a Dave Godin column I immediately had to locate a copy, I was not disappointed! J.J.'s finest. I just wish I had controlled a copy at the time of its original release.

RUBY ANDREWS Just Loving You (Zodiac)
I remember when this was a ballad! Deep soul with a rhythm.

STEVE MANCHA Don’t Make Me A Storyteller (Groovesville)
A lovely story and perfect vocals make this a must, one of my favourite slow cuts from the 60s.

DENA BARNES If You Ever Walk Out Of My Life (Inferno)
No idea when I first heard this but I love it! One of the few records that gets me on the dance floor even though I usually fall over trying a spin.
