SANDRA RICHARDSON Stay Here With Me (Inter/Soul Records)
This is a great Jack Ashford production, he also arranged the song and Lorraine Chandler is the composer. Suggestive sound. Really like this. Intro trumpet sounds like ‘Eleanor Rigby’. Do not know anything more than the lady is from Detroit and later changed her name to Sandra Feva.
DELLS I Miss You (Cadet)
This record was a small hit for the group #60 pop, #8 R&B in the US. Groovesville production by Don Davis, written by Tony Hester, sung by the mighty Dells... what more can you ask for.
FALCONS (I’m A Fool) I Must Love You (Big Wheel)
Could have been a slick Motown production but it’s not. No doubt, this track has Detroit stamped all over the sound and production. Magic!
TONY CLARKE (They Call Me) A Wrong Man (M-S)
Found this by accident in the 70s. Still one of my favorites. Melody reminds me of Little Willie John’s ‘Fever’. Great Detroit groove.
BARINO BROTHERS I Can’t Believe You’re Gone (Invictus)
Not so well known album track from Livin’ High Off The Goodness Of Your Love LP. I really love this stomper! One of many great songs from HDH and their Invictus/Hot Wax era.
